If I Had Another Chance...

In one week Daniel and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary, and I am overwhelmed with so many happy memories from our wedding day. However, I also couldn't help but think of an important time during the wedding when we listened to the opinions of others rather than following our hearts and everytime I think about that, I feel remorse. There really isn't such a thing as a "perfect wedding". Something is always bound to go not-quite-according-to-plan and that's just an inevitable part of life. But if there is something you could do to make your wedding more personal to you, by all means do it! After the wedding day is over, many of the guests forget all the details but the bride and groom are stuck with those memories for years to come, which is why it is vitally important to make sure you do what makes both of you happy!
This may sound petty, but I wish that Daniel and I had stuck with our real song choice for the First Dance rather than worrying so much about what others may think. The song we danced to for our wedding was, "When God Made You", which is a beautiful song and one that many people encouraged us to use. However, it carried no reminders of the memories from our past and was nothing more than just another nice song.

The song we really wanted to have commemorate our first moments as husband and wife was, "I Could Not Ask for More" by Edwin McCain. Every time I hear this song on my playlist or when it just happens to be on the radio, memories of my relationship with Daniel run through my mind. The first time I ever heard it was when we first met. It was the song that I chose for my MySpace account ever since we started dating and is probably still on there! It was the last song we heard, and cried to together, before I left to go to Asia for two months and had no contact with Daniel. Everytime I hear it, I think about how much God has brought us through. I reminded by these lyrics that no matter where like may take us, I will cherish those moments we have together. Oh, how I wish we'd had the courage to go through with this song for our first dance!
But even though we didn't dance to this song in front of all our friends and family it is still Our Song, and probably always will be. It is the song that fills our hearts when we think of each other, and I guess that's all that really matters in the end.

I just wanted to share that because it was heavy on my heart.
I hope you all have a marvelous Monday!

love always,
