Sun, Swans...and Snakes!

This weekend was one of the most amazing I have had in a long time. I think it's incredible that this weekend, in an effort to show my dad around the city, I have discovered more about Tampa and its surrounding towns than I could have ever imagined!

Saturday we went to Honeymoon Island, Downtown Dunedin and a Butterfly garden nearby.

Daniel got himself confused with being a 'nature expert' and pulled a rattlesnake by it's tail in an effort to give himself and my dad a priceless photo opportunity! As you can guess, my mom and I were screaming for dear life from inside the car while snapping shots as we yelled. Ha!
There were no buterflies to be found in the garden, however the bright, welcoming plants made up for our loss :)

I ended the day by picking up a vintage necklace for only $2 at the Antique Market in Downtown Dunedin. Love it!
Sunday we went to Lakeland to visit Swan Lake and enjoyed intense political debates on the 45-minute ride there. Gotta love being in a family filled with opposing views!

The swans did NOT disappoint and were friendlier than ever!

This one even let Danny sight-see while standing on her back ;)

We also found the sweetest stray cat I have ever had the pleasure of meeting {and that's saying a lot coming from a dog-lover}.

This weekend made the bittersweet reality that my dad left for Oregon at 5 this morning, that much sweeter. The memories we made were priceless.
Have you ever re-discovered your own hometown only to be more in love with it?

p.s. - Don't forget to join me for the first "2 Truths and a Lie Tuesdays" link-up party TOMORROW!

ps: yall need to go visit Pass-a-grille. I basically grew up there, most favorite beach EVER, plus I honeymooned right near there at the Don Cesar.
