Wedded = WORK!

Yea, that's a huge lesson that I learned this weekend. I'm kind of late on getting that memo, I know.  But who would have thought it was so difficult just to understand ONE person?!

Here are the 6 biggest lessons I've learned since being married for (almost) 6 months:
  1. Communicate! from the seemingly obvious things to the obscure, it's so important to discuss any changes that are being made that could affect your spouse.
  2. Don't assume anything! If you aren't sure about something, ask nicely for him/her to explain.
  3. If you can't agree on how to squeeze the toothpaste, just get your own tube.
  4. Examine yourself before pointing out the faults of your spouse (this is my biggest work in progress!)
  5. Keep doing good, even if it feels like it's killing you.  In the end you will be stronger for it.
  6. Love, true love, really does overcome everything else.
We had a mini-marriage seminar at our house this weekend, which is probably why I am giving all this marital advice, ha! We began watching the "5 Love Languages" by Dr. Gary Chapman on Sunday Night and it was interesting to figure out how we both want love shown to us.

and we also got in 2 amazing books by Dr. Ed Wheat that were given to us by a missionary friend and we are completely excited to read them (especially the 2nd, haha!):

Staying in Love for a Lifetime. It is filled with amazing stories of couples who were able to overcome the odds together :)

It's all about Intimacy in Marriage and also covers medical information
I totally recommend these resources to all my married friends! Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!!

 love always,

Being married is work but it is so worth it! I have been meaning to check out The 5 Love Languages myself :)

we had to get our own toothpaste bottles too.

Good advice, and anyone who say's marriage is easy isn't married. It's work but it is def worth the effort.

I've read Gary Chapman's Love languages several times. It's been a great resource for understanding my hubs...and why he sometimes "is the way he is!" :)

5 Love Languages is on my summer reading list. I can't wait to read it. I agree with everything on your list. I underestimated how much work a good marriage really is. We're going on 5.5 years now and its been hard work every day. And we even had 2 tubes of toothpaste at one time!!!
